In the framework of the EU funded project CHASE – Combatting online HAte Speech by engaging online mEdia, Symplexis invites online media professionals and stakeholders working in EU member states to participate in an International Workshop on misogynist and transphobic hate speech in online media and (already implemented or recommended) practices to detect, prevent and/or combat the phenomenon.
The workshop will take place on Thursday 25 July 2024 at 15:00 (CET) and will last about two (02) hours. It will be hosted and coordinated by Symplexis in collaboration with project’s partners. The language of the workshop is English.
Participants do not need to do any special preparation. They will be asked to share their thoughts and experiences regarding online hate speech on the grounds of gender and gender identity in their country and, especially, in the online media sector as well as to exchange good practices and/or recommend positive measures on how to detect, prevent and/or combat such comments from users/consumers of online media.

The workshop will be audio-recorded in order to facilitate the analysis of the results. Participants will be asked to sign a consent form regarding the audio-recording, collection, processing and storage of the data collected, in compliance with the GDPR 2016/679. The participation in this research activity is voluntary and completely anonymous – any identifiable data of the participants (e.g. names, contact info etc.) will not be included in the analyses processes as well as final deliverables (e.g. research reports) developed.
