Symplexis pays particular emphasis to donour funded Programmes promoting human rights and integration of vulnerable populations, implementing currently several donour funded transnational projects, in cooperation with NGOs, universities, companies, VET centers and institutions from countries throughout the European Union.

As part of the continuous growth and expansion in the organisation’s projects of transnational cooperation, we are looking to hire a hard-working and enthusiastic Proposal Writer for EU-Funded Projects to join our team.

Job description

The main duties of the Proposal Writer position involve the development of project concepts and the elaboration of full proposals for a series of EU funded Programmes focusing on the promotion of human rights and support of socially vulnerable groups, such as the Erasmus+ Programme, CERV, Horizon, AMIF, Creative Europe, COSME and EuropeAid.

Under the guidance and support of the organisation’s Development Director, the Proposal Writer will be following closely the publication of the various calls of the above mentioned Programmes, being involved in the identification and formulation of specific project ideas (following a quick relevant research) and responsible for the preparation and submission of the respective project proposals. Moreover, the Proposal Writer will be asked to contribute and provide input during the preparation of proposals from collaborating partners.

The specific responsibilities of this position include:

  • Analysing in detail the donor funded Programmes requirements and eligibility criteria, expected scope and impact.
  • End to end leading of proposals preparation particularly under the Erasmus+, CERV, Horizon, AMIF, Creative Europe, COSME and EuropeAid programmes.
  • Developing and drafting quality project proposals for funding.
  • Preparing detailed project budgets.
  • Organising material and completing all writing assignments in a timely manner.
  • Ensuring proposals are submitted on time and to a high standard and relevantformat.
  • Participating to the identification of suitable project partners / partnership building.
  • Communicating with project partners, collecting information from partners, processing of written inputs and background documents.

Essential skills

  • University degree in Social Sciences, Economics, Law, or other related field.
  • Minimum 2 years of proven professional experience in proposal preparation for EU or other donor funded projects and programmes.
  • Research background on issues directly linked with the work of the organisation, and especially in areas such as human rights and support to socially vulnerable groups.
  • Deep knowledge of the technical background (submission platforms, templates etc.) particularly about the Erasmus+, CERV, Horizon, AMIF, Creative Europe, COSME and EuropeAid programmes.
  • Proven track record and demonstrable experience in strategic partnership building and networking.
  • Excellent time management skills, ability to meet tight timetables and deadlines and deliver in high quality.
  • Excellent command of the English language (written & verbal).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Desirable skills

  • Postgraduate degree and/or a Ph.D. in a relevant field will be considered an asset.
  • Experience in project management and implementation of EU or other donor funded projects and programmes.
  • Good command of a third language besides Greek and English.
  • Hands-on experience with disadvantaged groups (either under research assignments or direct field work)
