Advancing Inclusive Communities Across Europe

A White Paper on Local Integration Strategies from the PITCH project

The PITCH partnership is pleased to announce the release of a White Paper developed as part of the PITCH project. Funded by the European Union’s Asylum, Migration, and Integration Fund (AMIF), PITCH – a model for gender-sensitive integration strategies based on Personalised, Participatory, Local, and Multistakeholder approaches – aims to create inclusive and adaptable solutions to support the socio- economic integration of migrant women across Europe.

The newly published White Paper captures the lessons learned, challenges addressed, and best practices identified during the implementation of local integration strategies that were developed based on the PITCH Model. The strategies were piloted, directly engaging 229 foreign-born women in Italy, Greece, Slovenia, Spain, Cyprus, Lithuania and Sweden. The White Paper offers actionable insights for local authorities, policymakers, and stakeholders to design, develop and sustain gender-sensitive integration strategies in their own communities.

The purpose of the White Paper is to:

  1. Equip policymakers and local authorities with practical guidelines to design and implement effective,
    localised integration strategies.
  2. Share the outcomes of personalised and participatory integration strategies tailored to the needs of
    foreign-born women in our country.
  3. Outline strategies for embedding gender-sensitive integration practices into local governance and
    community initiatives.

Local integration strategies are more important than ever, as they play a pivotal role in fostering cohesive and inclusive societies. This White Paper emphasises the value of engaging foreign-born women in the co-creation of integration strategies, ensuring that their unique needs and aspirations are reflected, as well as the importance of tailoring activities to individual needs to enhance their effectiveness, and facilitate meaningful connections within the host community. The White Paper demonstrates the value of advancing partnerships between public services, civil society organisations, and local businesses to create sustainable and impactful solutions.

We invite local authorities, policymakers, civil society organisations, and stakeholders across Europe to explore the findings and recommendations in this White Paper. Together, we can advance integration strategies that empower foreign-born women and contribute to more inclusive communities.
