Three joint interfaith initiatives were successfully completed in Athens as part of the European project InterMu-Se – Inter-religious coalition building against anti-Muslim hatred and anti-Semitism, implemented under the European Union’s CERV program, with the aim of strengthening dialogue, combating discrimination, and promoting social cohesion.
All three actions were carried out by Symplexis and the Inter-Orthodox Center of the Church of Greece in collaboration with religious communities, civil society organizations, teachers, and students, demonstrating in practice the importance of interfaith cooperation in addressing contemporary social challenges.
The first activity, on December 16, 2025, involved tree planting on the burned grounds of the Holy Monastery of Penteli, with the participation of representatives from religious communities, who emphasized their shared commitment to protecting Creation, sending a powerful message of environmental responsibility and shared care.

The second event, on March 3, 2026, took place in central Athens in collaboration with the social canteen “Sto 6” and the social kitchen Saffron Kitchen Project, and focused on providing practical support to vulnerable social groups through the joint preparation and distribution of food to people experiencing poverty and social exclusion.

The third initiative, on April 28, 2026, focused on raising awareness and commitment to the protection of all places of worship. Visits were made to important religious sites in Athens—the Anglican Church, the Metropolitan Cathedral, the Fetihiye Mosque, the Tzistarakis Mosque, the Jewish Synagogue, and the “Russian Church”—highlighting the need to ensure the safety and respect of all religious communities.

These initiatives demonstrated that interfaith dialogue is not limited to the theoretical level, but can be transformed into concrete joint actions with a social impact, strengthening trust, mutual understanding, and cooperation.
The InterMu-Se project continues to actively contribute to the creation of a framework for cooperation between religious communities and civil society organizations, with the aim of building more inclusive, resilient, and solidarity-based societies.
