The InSupport project aims to contribute to improving the protection and support for victims and survivors of sexual violence in Greece. The project comes to address:
- the need for more targeted and suitable training of law-enforcement staff and frontline services professionals on the provision of gender-sensitive and specialized support for victims of sexual violence/rape
- the limited interagency cooperation and gender-sensitive operational and referral procedures on supporting victims of sexual violence
- the lack of holistic protection and specialist support for women and girls who have experienced sexual violence
- the limited awareness of/information for women victims of sexual violence/rape about their rights and the support that is available.
More specifically the project activities, implemented in Greece aim to:
- enhance interagency cooperation on supporting victims of sexual violence, through the establishment of an interagency response mechanism
- enhance victim response and support procedures of law-enforcement and frontline services, through the development of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
- strengthen the skills of (at least 1.320) law-enforcement and frontline professionals on sexual violence/rape issues and gender-sensitive victim support, through capacity building
- raise the awareness and access to information of women victims of sexual violence/rape about their rights and the support that is available (incl. victims exposed to intersectional discrimination), through the creation of an info mobile application.
This will be achieved through the following main activities:
- Mapping of all relevant stakeholders
- Development of cooperation protocol and set up of a cooperation/response mechanism
- Development of Protocol/set of gender-sensitive SOPs for law-enforcement’s intervention with regard to sexual violence
- Development of Protocol/set of gender-sensitive SOPs for medical/healthcare services/system professionals for the admission, examination, care and further referral of victims of rape/sexual violence at national level
- Development of Guidelines for setting up rape/ sexual violence referral structures for providing victims of sexual violence with holistic and comprehensive support
- Development of e-learning platform
- Capacity Building Programme
- Creation of information mobile application
- Online awareness raising campaign
