The info day entitled “Behind the mirror: Care as power. The role of beauty professionals in recognition of Gender-Based Violence”, which was organized within the framework of the EU funded GBV-Watch Salons project on the 11th of May 2026, at the amphitheater of SAEK AKMI was a great success!
The info day was co-organised by SAEK AKMI, Small Entreprises Institute of GSEVEE and Symplexis with the aim of raising awareness of beauty professionals and students regarding gender-based violence as well as as well as how to recognize such cases, provide accurate information for victim support and refer them to the appropriate services.
During the info day, the project, its goals and activities were presented by Ms. Sofianou (SAEK AKMI), while Ms. Profyri (Small Enterprises Institute of GSEVEE) analyzed the findings of the primary research in Greece. Ms. Vlachaki (Symplexis) presented the GBV Handling Guides. Ms. Tsikouri, Vice president of the Association of Professional Aestheticians of Greece shared her experience, with the participants as well as the experiences of her colleagues, regarding their contact with victims of GBV who were their clients.
At the end of the info day, Ms. Papadopoulou informed the audience about the Beauty Studies educational program of AKMI and a discussion took place on how the training materials of the project could be included in the curriculum of Vocational Educational Training Centers.
The info day gathered around 50 people (both in person and online) and concluded with a very interesting discussion about Gender-based Violence and how it can be prevented and addressed.
