Learn more about the project

The C.HA.S.E. project is a 3-year European project funded by the European Union’s Citizens, Equality, Rights and Values (CERV) program and coordinated by the Media Diversity Globals Institute (Belgium). The project is implemented in Greece by the non-profit organization Symplexis, the newspaper “Proto Thema,” and the company ITML.

The main objective of the C.HA.S.E. project is to respond to the challenge faced by the EU in tackling hate speech, focusing on hate speech based on gender and gender identity, which is spreading in online media and causing devastating consequences, fueling violence and victimization, and even hate crimes.

The overall objective of CHASE is to implement in the participating countries (Greece, Cyprus, France, and Italy) an original information and communication technology (ICT) tool that will strengthen online media in identifying and responding promptly and effectively to incidents of gender-based hate speech.
