The pilot testing of the Volutoring Educational Platform organized in July 2020 by Symplexis, Greek partner of this 2-year Erasmus+ project, has been completed successfully with the participation of 15 volunteer trainers, among whom were teachers, language tutors, volunteers working with migrants and refugees in Greece, social science students, researchers and other professionals.
The aim of the platform is the development of a comprehensive tutoring approach for building key skills and competences of low-skilled adult migrant-refugees. All project partners conducted pilot testing in all participating countries (Turkey, Greece, Cyprus, Italy, Spain, Sweden) and the results have been very positive. More specifically, the participants in the pilot testing by Symplexis made comments about a “very useful online tool” and “detailed and well-organized educational material”.
To that end, the platform is expected to foster social inclusion of low-skilled adult migrants in their recipient countries by building their literacy, numeracy and digital skills and, in addition, to elevate the level of support skills’ building services to migrants through this new tutoring methodology, facilitated by volunteers.
