The FREE project targets gender-based discrimination in the educational setting, with the purpose of eliminating its effects, especially related with school performance and early school leaving. In doing so, it and involves 2 groups of participants: school teachers of primary and secondary education and parents with children at school age in 4 different countries.
The specific project objectives of FREE include:
- Build the capacities of teachers and raise the awareness of parents on gender-based discrimination and provide the means to change the culture resulting to students’ discrimination;
- Introduce innovative methods and tools to build the capacities of teachers and inform parents on how to react on incidents of gender-based discrimination;
- Reduce the psychological and educational impact of gender-based discrimination to children attending schools;
- Promote cooperation and joint efforts between teachers and parents, while creating incentives for educational institutes to adopt the project approach.
